Alfonso Cortina, Chairman and
CEO of Repsol YPF, has been appointed Member of the Board of Directors of the
French Petroleum Institute by the French Minister of Economy, Finance and
Industry, Laurent Fabius. This appointment will shortly be published in the
Official State Bulletin of the French Republic."
This French Petroleum
Institute conducts industrial research and development centred on hydrocarbons
(oil and gas) and the automotive sector. In 1999, the FPI worked with a budget
of 292 million euros, developing projects in over 100 countries worldwide, not
only in research and development but also in the areas of training, study,
co-operation and technical service.
The Board of Directors of the French
Petroleum Institute comprises representatives from the top oil and motor vehicle
companies in Europe, together with members of institutes and official
institutions engaged in research and study in the aforementioned industrial
sectors.
The appointment of Alfonso Cortina as a Board Member of the FPI
is a further recognition of Alfonso Cortina�s role at the head of Repsol YPF,
which has been decisive in positioning Repsol YPf among the world�s top oil
majors
