REPSOL YPF NEW GAS DISCOVERY IN ARGENTINA

Repsol YPF announces the discovery of new gas in the province of Neuqun, in western Argentina.

This is the second gas discovery this month, following another recent find in Trinidad and Tobago, reported at the beginning of May.

The area in which this most recent find was made, the Barrosa North field, belongs exclusively to Repsol YPF, as single owner and operator.

The gas producing area, found by using the latest technology, is at a depth of 2,400 metres, and production tests gave a flow of over one million cubic metres of gas per day, accompanied by liquid hydrocarbons.

Preliminary estimates set proved reserves at 3,000 million cubic metres of gas, with another similar amount to be confirmed by the appraisal work to be carried out next.
