REPSOL-YPF AND ENAG�S WILL AWARD THE CHARTER OF THREE LNG VESSELS TO ELCANO, FERNANDEZ TAPIAS AND KNUTSEN
 

 

The companies REPSOL-YPF and Enag�s (transport company for the Gas Natural Group) intend to award a contract for the chartering of three new large capacity methane tankers to the shipping companies Elcano, Naviera F. Tapias and Knutsen Oas Shipping, for the operation by each one of a LNG vessel. According to the contract, each shipowner also has the option to operate an additional vessel.

The definitive award depends on the following conditions:

  • The signature by both parties of a Time Charter Party.
  • The granting of sufficient guarantees in favor of REPSOL-YPF and Enag�s to assure delivery in time and manner.
  • The obtainment of a sufficient commitment, on the part of the banking entities included in the offer, to finance the construction

The new ships will have to be available, in a progressive manner, starting the end of the year 2001, and will be destined to meet the increase in the necessities for natural gas transport during the next few years.
