| REPSOL CUTS GASOLINE PRICES AND LAUNCHES A CAMPAIGN WITH FORD CARS
|
This week, gasoline will be cheaper at the Repsol Group
service station network: Repsol, Campsa and Petronor. All gasolines will cost less, especially Eurosuper 95
RON, which will drop by 1 to 2 pesetas per litre with respect to the maximum
price ceiling of 112.7 pesetas per litre for the week of September 7th to 13th.
Premium gasoline will also fall by approximately 1 peseta per litre. The potential growth of unleaded petrol in Spain has led
Repsol to encourage this process by making an additional cut on selling prices
for this product. In 1995, unleaded petrol accounted for 29% of total
gasoline consumption in Spain, whereas this figure is much higher in other W.
European countries. In France, for example, half the gasoline consumed is
unleaded; in the U.K., this level has reached 63%; whilst in Belgium and Germany
it is 68% and 94%, respectively. According to the AOP (Association of Petroleum
Operators), by June 1996, the demand for unleaded petrol had risen by 15.9% over
last year, in spite of a general fall in gasoline sales over recent months due
to stagnation in the private sector and a move to diesel on the part of many car
owners. Repsol was one of the first companies in Spain to launch
unleaded gasoline and, after thorough research and development, launched the
sale of unleaded gasoline with additives in July, 1993, raising the offer of
fuels available in Spain to a level with the most advanced EU
countries. Repsol sells unleaded 95 RON gasoline at all its service
stations under the name of Eurosuper, together with Super Plus 98. Repsols
unleaded gasolines carry additives containing exclusive ingredients that set
them apart from conventional gasolines, making them specially beneficial for
motor cars, providing low consumption, good performance, engine cleanliness and
low pollution. 2. Repsol-Ford Campaign An advertising campaign is taking place at Repsol service
stations, from September 7th last to October 6th next, giving customers the
opportunity to win a Ford Escort 1.6 Atlanta from Monday to Friday and a Ford
Escort Cosworth (the car driven by Carlos Sainz in the World Rally Championship)
at week-ends. Every 1,000 pesetas spent on fuel, gasoline or gasoil at
a Repsol service station gives the right to take part in a draw to win the
aforementioned prizes. These draws will be held weekly before Public
Notary. This campaign will be fully supported by TV, press and
radio advertising. 3. Reorganization of sales Repsols Executive Committee, at a meeting held today,
will approve a reorganization of the sales and marketing area of the company.
This new organization will be announced during the
week. |
