Libya

In Libya, Repsol YPF is operator through Repsol Oil Operations (ROO) in block NC-115 near the El-Sharara field, where in 1998 a new deposit was discovered. The exploratory areas have been increased in three new blocks, NC-186, NC-187 and North To where continue the works of exploration. The net reserves in Libya ascend to 85.5 million petroleum barrels. The production has reached the 156,000 barrels of petroleum to the day. Another remarkable fact of exercise 1999 was to have reached the number of 100 million barrels of accumulated production in the El-Sharara field, in the Libya river basin of Murzuq, which obtained in a time record, inferior to the three years from the first petroleum discovery made in the area. Repsol Oil Operations consolidates as well as the most efficient operator and the second foreign producer of Libya. During the 1999 exercise, the investment promoted to 16 million euros, 11 million developing and 5 million in exploration.
