Sometimes, the budget of our vacations shoot up when we want to lodge in a hotel. Nevertheless, there are several ways to obtain better prices without having to resign the wished establishment or pick another one with less category. Next we give you some advice:
- Hotel voucher books: They are also known as checkbooks and they are available in any specialist shop (travel agencies). Its main advantage is the possibility to lodge in a hotel with a considerably inferior price. The discounts applied to this vouchers can came to 40%. There are several types of checkbooks and before choosing between them, you must consider: number of vouchers (usually the checkbooks come with five vouchers), the category of the hotels that accept them, the type of room (most of vouchers are for double rooms), expiry date.
- Online reservation: A study of the Asociaci�n de Empresarios del Sector Tur�stico Usuarios de Telecomunicaciones in Spain, reveals that the reservations done over the Internet are 20% cheaper than those done over the telephone or directly with the hotel. Another advantage is that you can compare destinations and prices quickly and find the best price.
- Wholesalers: Reserving a room can also be cheaper if you do it through a wholesaler or tour operator. These firms offer discounts of 20 to 40 percent.
- Frequent flier miles: Most airlines offer promotional deals linked to frequent flier miles. In these cases, simply trade in those miles for nights in a hotel room, if the terms allow it.
- Traveling in the off-season: Going against the flow is another good tip for finding good hotel rates. Traveling in the off-season means there are more rooms to choose from and cheaper ones, with the same quality.
What about inside the hotel Once you are at the hotel, you have to keep in mind these other advice to avoid disagreeable surprises: - Ask the reception desk for all the information about the included services (breakfast, lunch, beverages). - Remember you have to pay for all the mini-bar consumptions. - Usually the phone is a paid serviced and phone calls are not included.
