For city dwellers, a parking garage is an essential element of quality living. If the new apartment does not include a parking place, the new owner or tenant may have to look for one nearby. Rent can cost from 90 to 150 euros a month, while buying one can cost 20,000. If the place is in a lot reserved for residents of a neighborhood it can for anywhere from 9,000 to 21,000 euros.

New services
Moving also disrupts customs and services such as domestic help, looking for a new school for the kids, places to shop and public transport. Prices are similar wherever you go, so moving does not really involve increased expenses from new domestic services or schools.

Registering
Moving involves a certain amount of bureaucratic red tape such as registering in a new district and letting the tax authorities know your new address. You also have to advise utility companies, banks, etc. But this costs nothing and generally the bank itself takes care of it all.

Signing up for new services
Moving often means you must request a new telephone number and sign up for utilities like water, electricity and natural gas. Getting a telephone line costs more than 120 euros, and getting gas and electricity hooked up are about 100 each.
