Utility: Transform a pot or clay pitcher into a lovely table lamp.
Difficulty: High
Cost: Medium
Materials: - Clay pitcher.
- Threaded pipe.
- Socket for the light bulb.
- Electric cable.
- Switch.
- Electric plug.
Steps:
1. Clean the clay with soap and water. Once it has dried, apply a coat of wax, never varnish. Clay can only be treated with natural products.
2. Make a hole in the center of the base of the pitcher and insert the threaded tube. Prepare the cable: connect the plug at one end and the switch about 40 cm further on. Place the other end of the cable through the tube so that it comes out the end opposite from the base of the pitcher. Strip the cable and connect the socket for the light bulb.
3. Screw the socket to the part that sticks out of the tube. If the pitcher has a cover, shut it with silicone. Finally, install the lampshade, which can be made of cloth, which tend to be the prettiest, or paper, the cheapest, or parchment, the most expensive.
Advices: You can make smaller lamps, such as for nightstands, with any rustic-looking clay container. It is a homemade accessory that will give a personal touch to any nightstand.
