Utility: Take advantage of the unused space above windows installing a useful bookshelf.
Difficulty: Easy
Cost: Low
Materials: - Wooden board (available in hardware stores).
- Fabric remnant.
- Glue.
- Carpenters nails, headless.
Steps:
1. Measure the wide of the window and cut the fabric to suit, allowing a 6cm frame. Attach the fabric to the wood with strong glue, assuring it is tight.
2.
Cut the board to the length of the fabric in such a way that the fabric remains inside the edges and does not unfurl. Paint the board with white plastic paint, just like the paint of the tambour. To attach it, place the nails at a distance of 10 cm, making sure that the fabric is well protected.
Advices: You can use the shelf for books you dont take out every day, toys or decorations, even if you cant reach them. This is a simple way to make useful something that is by definition anti-aesthetic. With a bit of imagination you can make use of almost anything. You can use paper instead of fabric it is much simpler or simply paint it a strong color that contrasts. It will cheer up that window and give it a new purpose.
