Utility: Exhibit small items such as thimbles.
Difficulty: Average.
Cost: Average.
Materials: - Thin plank of wood.
- One centimetre thick wooden plank for shelves.
- Nogalina.
- Sandpaper and strong glue for wood.
- Long thin nails.
- Varnish.
Steps:
1. Sketch the shape you require for the base on a piece of cardboard. In the DIY shop they will cut a plank to your specifications. The plank of wood can also be cut to size to make three small shelves. Glue them firmly to the back of the plank and carefully nail them in with thin nails so that the wood does not splinter.
2. Then sandpaper the entire sandpaper until smooth to touch. Clean with a dry cloth and apply a layer of nogalina, previously dissolved in water for the desired effect. Allow to dry several hours and apply a layer of varnish. Wait a further 12 hours and apply another layer.
3. Once dry, nail some tacks into the shelves leaving a small space between them so that the objects placed on the shelves do not move or fall.
Advices: This shelf is especially suitable to display a collection of thimbles: its cost is low and there is such a wide variety available that it is an ideal object to collect. A perfect way to decorate a corner of a bedroom, a small space between two doors or a corridor.
