Utility: Cover up the opening of a staircase or storage room and create a door providing access.
Difficulty: Low
Cost: Low
Materials: - Colored sacking cloth.
- Rope ( for the loops).
- A metal or wooden curtain rod.
- Rawl plugs, hooks, screws.
Steps:
1. Cut the fabric to the size of the opening, leaving 6 cm of space on either side. Make a hem all around with a sewing machine.
2. In the upper part, sew 30-cm long strips of rope to form loops. This will be attached to the curtain rod.
3. Insert the Rawl plugs into the wall to set up the curtain rod, leaving 3 cm at each side and above the opening so the curtain has room and can be drawn easily.
Advices: - As the curtain is made of stiff material, it is very strong and can be used to cover up the opening of a staircase, create a small storage area or serve as a door of access to a closet. Bright colors are best. They are less likely to get dirty, and the small storage room effect is enhanced.
- To give it all a modern touch, sew onto the cloth pockets of different sizes to hold things, such as the keys to the garage or a terrace or simply some tools or magazines. |
