Utility: Decorating a wall.
Difficulty: Low
Cost: Low
Materials: - Tablex cut to the required size (DIY stores will do this for you).
- Print or photograph.
- Contact glue, brush, hook.
- Varnish.
- Simple moulding for frames.
Steps:
1. With the use of a brush, apply the contact glue all over the tablex. Place the print carefully on top, and with a cloth press down from the centre outwards to the comers to iron out any wrinkles or air bubbles. If air bubbles do form, perforate them with a needle so that the print is perfectly flat.
2.
To frame the picture, place the moulding around it, paying particular attention to the comers. These are cut to fit using a small hand saw. If necessary sandpaper the comers so that they end up perfectly smooth. Join the comers with the contact glue to create the frame. Press firmly to ensure it does not move. The remaining glue can be removed with alcohol. You can also ask for the moulding to be cut to size in the DIY store where it is purchased.
3.
Glue the tablex with the print to the frame. When it is completely dry and free of glue, apply the varnish to the print and frame with a brush. Allow it dry (consulting the time recommended by the manufacturer on the tin) and apply a second layer of varnish. When this has also dried it is time to hang up our picture with a hook..
