Utility: Add some brightness to a room.
Difficulty: Low.
Cost: Low.
Materials: - White poster paint.
- Paint of your chosen colour.
- Brushes of two different sizes and one elbow one for radiators.
- Turpentine, sandpaper.
Steps:
1. This is a job to carry out in summer when the radiators are completely cold.
The first step to take is to thoroughly clean each radiator with a brush to remove any dust and rust it may have accumulated. Then pass over a cloth dipped in turpentine.
2. Apply a thick layer of poster paint on all sides of the radiator. Use a special elbow brush to paint the back.
Leave to dry well, at least 24 hours. If the radiators are old, you should also paint the visible pipes.
3. Apply two layers of the chosen paint, with a 24 hour interval between each layer.
Advices: You can use the same plastic paint used to cover the walls and ceiling. But it would be more daring to use a different contrasting colour: such as orange to contrast with blue walls, for example. The colour not only decorates but can also be functional: a means to delimit areas. In any case, painting is always reversible. |
