How to fix damaged corners of interior walls
by Manuel G. Blzquez
The corners of interior walls inevitably get banged around. Over time, if the plaster deteriorates, the edges are damaged, particularly those closest to the floor. You have no choice but to do a partial restoration of the corner. He we show you how.

Tools and materials
Wooden ruler, level, trowel, spatula, metal or plastic mesh, corner profile, gray plaster,
white plaster or sealing paste. Sandpaper, paint and protective wall covering.

Cleaning the deteriorated part
ochip away at the damaged surface until you reach the bricks of the wall. There should nothing left that does not adhere well.
oUse a brush to clean away the dust, and moisten the area with a bit of water.
oDepending on what the damage is like, you can redo the corner with sealing paste or plaster.

Redoing the corner
oIn order to make the repair job more reliable and protect against bumps or scrapes, place
a bit of chicken wire or plastic mesh so that the filling paste will stick better.
oIf the damaged area is large, all along the corner, you can place a right-angled plastic profile held in place with small nails and the paste itself.
oMix the plaster with water in the recommended proportion. Make just as much as you need because it settles quickly.
oWith a spatula or trowel apply small amounts of plaster to cover the mesh or corner profile, which will end up embedded. Even off the surface with the rest of the wall. Smooth it with the trowel.
oOne trick for getting the edge nice and straight is to line up a vertical rod on one side of the wall. It will serve as a guide as you apply the plaster. Don't remove it until the plaster starts drying. Then, place the rod on the other side and fix it in the same way.

Installing a wall covering
o Allow the wall to dry and apply a fine layer of white plaster with the trowel.
oIf you are new to this, when it is completely dry use sandpaper and a block of wood to smooth away any imperfections.
oClean away dust and it is now ready to paint the same color as the rest of the wall.
oAs a final touch to protect the corner, you can place a wooden or hard plastic covering.
It is also decorative.
