Repair: �Areas with puddles: Raise the level of the land, with the incline leading to a drain or a drainage ditch. Dig a drainage ditch with porous tubing. Add sand or peat to the soil.
�Bare spots on the lawn: Trim the damaged area and replace it with a piece of turf of the same thickness as the surrounding grass. Clean away dead material and re-seed.
�Summer beds Uproot withered seasonal plants and prune summer perennials to ground level. Pull weeds.
Lawn: Mow 2 or 3 centimeters shorter. Loosen with a rake to eliminate dead blades and prevent emergence of fungus.
Seed: Flowering plants for winter or spring: pansies, candytuft, yarrow, gillyflower, forget-me-not, marigold, centaurea and nigelia. Mix small seeds with silica gel so they disperse better.
Cuttings: From fuchsia, geraniums, plumbagos and pelargonium. Cut the stems leaving three to five leaves, and place rest of stem in water. Will be ready to plant when roots appear.
Plant: Bulbs that bloom in spring: crocus, narcissus, tulips, anemone, hyacinth, iris, muscaris, etc. Garden: cabbage, onions, parsley and corn salad.
Fertilize: Dahlia, chrysanthemum and plants with ornamental fruit. For lawns, use fertilizer rich in potassium in order to strengthen roots.
Fumigate: With potassium sulphate to harden young wood. Treat fungal diseases to disinfect plants for spring.
Prune: The oldest part of flowering plants and strip heads. Stray branches and shoots from trees and bushes.
Collect: Leaves to prevent disease and pests. Seeds from seasonal plants: hang plants upside down by stems in a dry, ventilated place. Let seed heads or buds dry on sand and store them with labels to plant when the season comes around.
