Synopsis: Travis Bickle (Robert de Niro) is a lonely Vietnam veteran that works as a taxi driver in New York. Despite the danger, he himself chooses to work the night shift due to his insomnia. In decadent surroundings, Travis falls in love with Betsy (Cybill Sheperd), an attractive young woman who works in the office of a senator running for the presidency. She rejects Travis after a first date in which he takes her to see a pornographic film. Travis later gets to know Iris (Jodie Foster), a 13-year-old prostitute who he helps to give up her profession after a series of violent murders.
