A police raid leaves them out of work, and after they accidentally witness a mob hit they are forced to flee from the city. To do so they disguise themselves and join an all-girl band called Sweet Sue. Along the way they become friends with the singer, named Sugar Kane (Marilyn Monroe). Joe is attracted to her and occasionally reverts to his real identity in order to seduce her.
