Synopsis: Carrie is a sweet, shy teenager who has the odd ability to move things of any size with the power of her mind. She lives with her mother, a religious fanatic who represses her, and is the butt of many a joke from her classmates. Trying to help, her friend Sue (Amy Irving) persuades a friend Tommy (William Katt) to take Carrie to the high school prom, which is a real thrill for such a withdrawn person. Much to everyone's surprise, she is elected prom queen. But this turns out to be nothing more than a cruel joke by a mean classmate. Carrie wastes no time in exacting revenge.
