Synopsis: The former gun-slinger Johnny Logan (Sterling Hayden), now goes by the name of Johnny Guitar because he traded in his gun for a guitar. Watching from high up on a plain, he witnesses a stagecoach robbery in which a man is killed. He then goes to a bar run by an old sweetheart, Vienna (Joan Crawford), who thinks her business will prosper because of the imminent arrival of the railroad to that area. But her joint's peace and quiet is disturbed by the appearance of Emma Small (Mercedes McCambridge), sister of the banker whose death Johnny witnessed. Emma blames the death of her brother on Dancing Kid (Scott Brady), who is known to be protected by Vienna.
