We take a tour of Spain's most renowned museums and their unmissable collections.

A Coru�a
Museo de Bellas Artes�
(Fine Arts Museum)
A collection of paintings dating from the 16th century to the first half of the 20th century. Among the museum's most significant works are paintings by Carducho, Ribera, Juan de Juanes and Rubens, Spanish painters of the 19th century and, above all, a series of etchings by Goya.
La Casa de las Ciencias
(The House of Science)
This museum was inaugurated in 1983 to provide a space where science can be taught in an entertaining and relaxed manner. It offers the opportunity for fun and games, educating young and old in scientific values, attitudes and procedures.

Barcelona
Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya
A journey through the history of Catalan art, from the first examples of Romanesque through to the 1940s. The museum's real treasure lies in its major collection of medieval frescoes taken from the region's Romanesque churches, above all the Pyrenees, and also the impressive collection of Gothic altarpieces.
Fundaci�n Joan Mir�
Exhibits works by Joan Mir� and also includes the collection entitled 'A Joan Mir�' where international artists display their latest creations; and a room devoted to younger artists.�
Museu Picasso
Groups together works from different periods of the Malaga-born painter's life. Also features a collection of ceramics and etchings.
Fundaci�n Antoni T�pies
Collection made up of the drawings, paintings, objects, sculptures and graphic work of Antoni T�pies.

Bilbao
Museo Guggenheim
One of the world's most emblematic museums, not least for its spectacular titanium building designed by the architect Frank O. Gehry. In its interior it houses a centre of international modern and contemporary art, with American and European artists of the 20th century the most prominent.

A journey through ancient, modern and contemporary art, both Basque and Spanish, as well as Flemish, Italian, French and other international artists.

Cuenca
Museo de Arte Abstracto Espa�ol
(Museum of Spanish Abstract Art)
A distinctive building perched on the edge of a cliff in Cuenca's old town which houses an interesting collection of contemporary Spanish art. The abstract works belong mostly to artists of the 1950s generation, as well as later 1980s and 90s works.�

Girona (Figueres)
Teatro Museo Dal�
(Dal� Theatre Museum)
A vast collection that covers Dal�'s artistic development, from his early surrealist creations up to his final years. A unique experience created by the artist himself that also includes works by El Greco and Duchamp.

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
Museo Canario
(Canary Museum)
A museum devoted almost exclusively to Grand Canary's aboriginal population. It tries to explain how this race that inhabited the island from the second half of the first millennium BC up until the Spanish colonisation of the 15th century lived and thought.

Madrid
Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sof�a
One of the world's most important contemporary art museums, home to key works by Spanish artists such as Picasso, Mir� and Dal�, as well as other world-class avant-garde pieces.
Museo Thyssen Bornemisza

Located in the Villahermosa Palace and remodelled by the architect Rafael Moneo, the Thyssen Bornemisza offers an interesting journey through the history of Western art from the 13th to the 20th century, through key artists such as Titian, Tintoretto, Caravaggio, Ribera, Picasso, Mir� and Pollock.
Museo Nacional del Prado
One of the world's largest and best art galleries. From the Romanesque to the 20th century, it possesses works from the Spanish, Flemish, Italian, French, English, Dutch and German schools, as well as sculpture, decorative art and paper-based works.

Valencia
Instituto Valenciano de Arte Moderno
(IVAM)
A museum that specialises in art's evolutionary process, from the crisis of the classic movements to the 1930s.
Museo de Bellas Artes San P�o V
Woks by Ribalta, Espinosa, Sorolla, Murillo, El Greco, Goya and Van Dyck among others. Includes an interesting display of modern art, a sculpture pavilion and an archaeological collection.

Seville
Museo Bellas Artes
A beautiful building that is typical of Andalousian mannerism houses a collection of Sevillian art and sculpture from the 15th to the 20th century. The pick of the collection is the 17th century section, including works by Zurbar�n, Murillo and Vald�s Leal, and also the 19th century section.

San Sebasti�n
Museo Naval
(Naval Museum)
Located in the city's port, the museum was born in 1991 with the aim of recuperating the Basque Country's naval heritage. It offers a global vision of the Basque relationship with the sea, especially in naval construction.

Santiago de Compostela
Centro Gallego de Arte Contempor�neo
(Galician Centre of Modern Art)
A modern and distinctive building offers a journey through international, national and Galician modern art.

Valladolid
Museo Nacional de Escultura
(National Sculpture Museum)
Not only does this museum house Spanish sculpture from the 13th century to the 18th century, which is mainly wood-based, it also displays a collection of paintings from the 15th-18th century.
