Tools and materials Wooden board cut to measure. Four metallic legs (they can also be wooden) Fasteners, screws and screwdriver Finishing varnish and sandpaper if the wood needs it.
Choose the board Buy a board. You can get it pre-cut in standard sizes or have it cut for you with the dimensions you specify at a sawmill, building supply store or hardware store. Any kind of wood works but it is best to use hard wood, such as oak or beechwood. Pine is also good. If the board is solid wood it will run less a risk of curving and be more sturdy. The thicker the wood, the more stable the table. But it will also be heavier. Keep this in mind if you will be taking the table apart often. The minimum thickness should be 3 cm. You can also use boards of plywood covered with layers of solid wood or plastic. The edges should be smoothes out. You can also use DM board but these do not look as good.
Putting the legs on Metal legs have plastic covers on the end to avoid damaging the floor. The upper part has a threaded, adjustable cylinder that fits into the fastener. The fasteners have holes drilled into them to take the screws, and a female thread. They are placed under the four corners of the table. Mark the same spot in each corner. It should be at least 10 to 15 cm from the edge of the board. Now just screw in the fasteners, usually with five screws of the kind used with wood. If the board is not heavy, you can screw in each leg with the board upside down on the floor. Otherwise, you will need help from someone to hold the board while you screw in the legs.
