THE BOUTIQUE THE WEATHER INTERACTIVE CAMPSA GUIDE
The most appropriate decoration for a small apartment
by Virginia Verdejo
You live in a small apartment and you have no idea as to the best way of decorating it. The key is to combine furniture, textiles and paint in order to visually increase the space.

On the walls: bright colours
If there is a way of visually playing with the square meters of an apartment it is through
the colour of its walls. When the space is small it is best to paint the walls in bright colours. If, in addition, there is little light this is almost essential. But you do not always have to stick to white; you can also give a visual impression of greater space if you choose
light blues from the range of very light indigos, or orangey yellows, avoiding lemon yellow. You can also save a narrow wall, such as the one facing a window or balcony door, and paint it a darker colour to contrast with the rest. This combination gives
a very modem and daring appearance.

Furniture of simple design
When it comes to finding furniture, it is best to stick to simple lines and shapes.
If we fill the space up with old-fashioned furniture of classic design we will simply create
a sense of claustrophobia and the pieces of furniture, especially if they are of good quality, will not be given the chance to shine.

- If there is a long wall in the room, it is best to place a three-seat sofa facing it, accompanied by an armchair. If, on the other hand, the room has a squarer shape, it is best to place two two-seat sofas, in any case avoiding the classic three-piece suite.
- The dining room table should be round, as this allows you to move around it more easily, as well as extendible to provide for more diners when necessary.
- It is best not to install boisseries, or large pieces of furniture. More advisable are home-made shelves with a table underneath for the TV.
- If you have inherited a piece of furniture or have a piece of artwork, place them in a prime spot to make them the star items of decoration.
- It is best to have built-in wardrobes in the bedrooms, as these make the best use of the available space, and choose simple headboards and side tables, which should be white or a lighter shade of wood.
- In the bathroom, replace the bath with a shower and even remove the bidet to fit in another practical item of furniture.

Flat or lined textiles
It is best to choose flat or lined textiles for curtains as well as sofa and seat coverings. These help to extend the space. As a general rule, if the walls are painted white or in very subtle shades, the textiles can be more daring. On the contrary, if the walls are more intense in colour or you have used various shades, you should plump for subtle lace curtains or flat textiles.
