Tools and materials Roller, plastic paint, hues depending on your taste, cube for painting, drying rack, plaster's tape, protective paper, ladder or worker's table. Brushes to finish the wall and ceiling painting in difficult corners.
Where to start - If you are going to paint an entire room, it best to start with the ceiling. In this way, if you stain the walls, it will be easy to correct. - If you are painting the walls and ceilings in different colours, place plaster's tape along the walls. Even if you will later paint them, it is best to protect them to ensure a stronger paint will not see through the weaker paint. - Cover the roller with paint and roll it across the drying rack. Always hold the handle or extension firmly. - Start with long strokes in a corner, better in parallel and where the light comes in. Overlap each stroke a little. - Immediately make perpendicular strokes to the previous strokes. The difference will not be noticeable. If you add a second hand, do it in the direction of the light. Hiding the strokes - Act in a similar way on the ceilings, always starting with the upper part. When you have finished the ceiling and it has dried, place the tape where the two surfaces meet. -Cover the roller uniformly in paint and use the rack to remove excess paint. -Start working in zigzag formation, right to left, ensuring the roller does not drip or slip. If you are always pressing the wall it will drip more easily. - Once one part of the wall is covered (work in the space that your arms reach) start with vertical strokes. The strokes are thus hidden and the surface adequately covered with paint.
Storing the roller when resting - If you intend working the whole day and have a break, you do not need to wash the roller thoroughly. - Cover it in plastic (a bag or clingfilm will do) while you are resting. If you do not intend to use it the rest of the day, it is best to wash it before storing it, so that it remains in perfect condition. - If the paint is distemper o plastic, it is best to wash it well with water. Leave it to dry and it will be ready to use again.
