Utility: Keeps hats in order and decorates the room in an original manner.
Difficulty: Easy
Cost: Low
Materials: -Plank of wood, the older the better, long enough to hang three hats.
-Powdered nogaline.
-Large steel hooks that can be found in DIY stores.
-Glass bowl (for the nogaline).
-Brush.
-Thick scraper for the wood.
-Natural wax.
-Old cloths to spread on the wax.
Steps:
1. If the wood is new, it will have to given an antiquated look using a wood scraper, especially on its borders, to give it a used look. The less smooth the better. Clean with a dry cloth removing all the surrounding dust.
2.
Paint with nogaline dissolved in water, in a proportion of two coffee spoons per glass of water. Mix well and spread on to the wood. Apply as many layers as necessary until you achieve the desired tone.
3.
Once dry, apply several layers of wax and polish with an old cloth; lastly nail in the hooks. The hat stand is now ready.
Advices: If you make two and place them either side of a mirror or picture, you'll brighten up the room. If you prefer less work, you can use new wood and paint it in a bright colour; orange or yellow. It'll give your room a younger, more modern look.
