Utility: Change the look of a room.
Difficulty: High.
Cost: High.
Materials: - Thin canvas textile (very cheap) for the table.
- Striped canvas for the seat covers.
- Material for making a curtain.
Steps:
1. To make the seat covers cut a strip measuring from the top of the backrest to the floor, in front and behind and fix it firmly with some needles to the old cover. Then cut another strip from armrest to armrest and place it across the chair and fix it in place with needles.
2.
The patterns of the chairs wings and armrests are made with paper and cut to size. The material is then cut, leaving enough over to finish and the strips are joined with needles until the material is fully stretched. When all the pieces are in place, it can be finished off with a sewing machine. The cushions are generally separate, which makes the process easier.
3. To make the table trimmings cut the material into the shape of a square handkerchief and, once in place, cut around it and bend it round to make a loop.
Advices: The curtains should be of the same shade, but with lace edging and tassels (bought) and an Arab cloth can be placed on the table along with some wooden balls.
This room is connected with the dining room. The door has been removed and so the room can be seen from the rest of the house. The materials should first be tested, as some look appropriate and others do not, the same as with clothes. It is the furniture that allows you to appreciate the colours, textures and patterns. The room is completely renewed with these elements alone.
Given that the light is indirect, with wall lamps and a floor lamp, we have decided to place an antique birdcage (bought in an antiques shop) as an adornment to give the room a suitable rustic air.
