Materials:
- White paint (semi-lacquer).
- Small wooden strip.
- Sandpaper, rollers, tape, wax.
- Headless nails.
- Puddy for wood.
- Door handle.
Steps:
1. Doorhandle: Measure the space where the device goes. If there are signs of screws or the space is bigger, fill with wood puddy and sand it down to make it even.
2. Measure the wooden strip and build a superimposed frame. Attach it to the door with the headless nails. This is generally done on just one side of the door, on the right. This frame should be uniform on all sides and is done by just cutting it at an angle and joining the ends with strong glue. Attach them before painting.
3. Once the strips are in place and the holes of the door handle are covered, sand down the whole door, wipe with a dry cloth to remove dust and give it first coat of paint. If you sand well the paint will hold better. After a few hours apply the second coat and allow to dry. Install the door handle.
Advices:
- You can remodel all the doors in the house without changing them. The enamel can be white or colored. It is no problem to paint a light color on a dark door as long as you apply two coats. It is not necessary to strip the old paint.
- If you can change the door handle it is easy and will give the whole house a new look.
- Even if the doors are flast and old, they will take on a modern, bright look with just a bit of effort and patience. |
