Spa resorts: health and tourism with the family
by Francisco Javier Palazn
Spanish spa resorts are places to go to improve your health, hygiene and relax thanks to the therapeutic powers of water and specialised medical care. After a few years in which spas were overlooked, they are now once again all the rage, having become the ideal spot to pass some unforgettable days with all the family.

Spain has boasted several spa resorts spread out across the whole peninsula since time immemorial, although they have only recently become popular amongst all types of families who choose them as the ideal location for a few days of vacation. Traditionally, and thanks to the cures offered by these resorts, they were almost exclusively visited by older people with bone problems (arthritis), rheumatism, respiratory infections (asthma, bronchitis, sinusitis, etc...) or chronic anaemia, renal problems, anorexia, etc. However, this profile has altered significantly to the extent that these centres are currently visited by people of all ages to cure some of these problems or simply to escape the stress of daily urban life. The qualities of hypothermal, oligometallic and sulphur waters convert spas into the ideal spot in which to pass a few relaxing and tranquil days.

To visit a spa is to rest and improve the mind and body. They are not only health centres, but often located in areas of great natural beauty and are equipped with sporting installations in which all sorts of complementary activities can be found, guaranteeing fun for all the family: open-air sports, trekking, golf, climbing, cycling, fishing What are you waiting for?
