R.Burns, Champion 2001

In a closely fought season, the 2001 Rally World Championship ended with a British flavour.
 
The title winner was the English driver Richard Burns and the runner-up spot went to the Scot Colin McRae. The Finnish driver finished third in the fianl overall standings.

With regards to the Spanish participation in the World Championship, Carlos Sainz did not have the best of seasons. He finished in a respectable sixth position, 11 points off from the champion. However, maybe with a lttle more luck and better judgement, it could have turned out much better.
