Effective Average Pressure. The average of all the instantaneous pressures that take place in the combustion and expansion phases of the gases inside the cylinder. It is a fundamental parameter to evaluate the performance of an engine. The average pressure is measured in Newtons per square metre (international system) or in kilopondios per sqaure centimetre.

| Pneumatic spring |
The air capsule that connects the wheel and chassis is known in this way. It works by increasing or decreasing the pressure inside the capsule. depending on the movement of the wheel. It can also vary its height above the floor of the vehicle. and so via a pump air is added or taken away from inside the capsule.

| Pneumatic suspension |
A type of suspension that works with a pneumatic spring. that is to say. a container with air or pressurised gas. and which substitutes the mechanical spring (that can be helical. a crossbow or a torsion bar). This is a type of suspension that is used a lot on heavy goods vehicles. It has the advantage that the height of the suspension can be regulated. depending on the type of road surface.
