The dimensions of the new Astra are among the largest in its segment: 4.25m long, 1.75m wide, 1.46m high and a wheelbase of 2.61m. It is 35mm higher, 44mm wider and 139mm longer than the previous model. There is a noticeable increase in space at the height of the shoulders both in the front and back and, in particular in headroom in the back seats. The new Astra also has a large space for luggage. So it is one of the best in the segment with a boot volume of 350 litres.

The main reason for this generous amount of space in the interior of the Astra is apart from its long wheelbase, the intelligent inner architecture. Thanks to this the space available between the technological components of the car, the cockpit and the luggage compartment has been organized optimally so that driver and passengers obtain the greater possible benefit.

Moreover, the design of the back axle also saves space. The improved torsion bar system is so compact that the designers were also able to position the fuel tank in a relatively low position between the wheels and the back seat. This offers the passengers a sensation of security and helps even more to reduce the centre of gravity of the vehicle. |
