The 407 saloon will quickly be followed by the SW version. In its design, its very suggestive front end shows a "feline" look, but a generously sized air intake and its "emblematic" front bring two style features that start a new Peugeot line. Its profile brings to mind the lookof a hunting animalas if it were about to jump on its prey.

As for the architecture, the 407 is developed from the platform conceived for PSA Peugeot Citron vehicles in the medium and high part of their range, but updated to respond to the demands of motorway performance. So, it has a front axle with double triangulation and disconnected pivot that brings an excellent synthesis of behaviour on the motorway. A rear multiarm axle with covered shock absorbers assure driving comfort.

Both the petrol version as well as the Diesel HDi engine, the engine units used tomove the 407, now have the best technology included, five or six speed gearboxes, as well as four or six speed automatic gearboxes. In petrol, the range is made up of a 117bhp 1.8 litre unit, a 136bhp 2.0 litre, a 160bhp 2.2 litre unit and a 211bhp V6. The diesel range offers two Hdi units: a 110bhp 1.6 and a 136bhp 2.0. |
