Seat inaugurates a new generation of products with the Altea. In addition, this is the first vehicle from the company conceived within the framework of the Group of Audi Makes since its creation in 2002. It opens with an MSV concept vehicle (Multi Sports Vehicle), that adds an innovating and suggestive design to the values of mini people carriers, supplying character and sporty behaviour.

On the outside, the Altea has the characteristics of the new image used on Seat models. On the front end the most notable are the large grilles and the expressive light clusters. Seen from the side the dynamic line designed by Walter de Silva can clearly be seen, this begins on the front wheel arch and drops down along the doors until the rear wheel. The latter feature will be standard on future models from the Spanish make.

The dimensions make it very compact: 1.77m long 1.57m wide and 4.28m high (a little lower than other mini people carriers on the market). As for the mechanics, the most notable is the arrival of FSi technology, a range of latest generation engines with more than 100bhp, DSG gear change (double clutch) and a newly designed front suspension. There will be two petrol units: the 150bhp 2.0 FSi and the 102bhp 1.6, and two diesels: the 140bhp 2.0 TDI 16V and the 105bhp 1.9 TDI.
The Altea will be built exclusively at the Martorell factory and it will be put on show in March at the Geneva International Motor Show. |
