The new BMW Series 5 Touring possesses an elegant style. In spite of its larger dimensions it gives the impression of being lighter, although it is also more powerful and with a more defined shape than the previous model. The lateral line that goes from the front to the rear lights emphasises the elegant character of this automobile, as well as the rear which consciouisly takes on the shape and style of a saloon. In addition the elongation of the dividing line between the hatchback to the sides makes the car seem wider than it is and makes it more like a sports car than one for the family.
The first versions to be launched will be the 525i, 545i, 525d and 530d. With the exception of the petrol 525i Bi-Vanos, with six cylinders in line and a very smooth drive the other three engines are new on the family verrsion of the Series 5. These are distinguished by their higher power and engine torque, and as a consequence, by the higher performance. In spring 2005 the 520i and 530i models will join the range.
With its standard equipment and with the extras the Touring offers the best of modern technology and safety systems used on the Series 5 saloon, such as for example, active steering, Dynamic Drive, virtual Head-Up Display screen, automatic system of adaptive lights on curves, etc. And compared to the predecessor it has a bigger variable baggage compartment, with easier access with an automatic opening system on the hatchback.
