The 2004 version of the Mazda MX-5 incorporates a new central panel in simulated titanium, chromed anti-roll bars with built-in loudspeakers and three new colours for the bodywork, all these parts are for both trims; the Active 1.6 litre and Sportive 1.8 litre. Moreover the Active version incorporates a new black textile upholstery, whilst the Sportive version, which has leather upholstery as standard comes with 16 alloy rims with a new design.
Its classic style does not change. The relatively long bonnet, the short rear end, its low height, the long wheelbase and the large tyres combine to create a timeless appearance. The current version is a convertible with gentle lines that are clearly in the Mazda style, with a large air intake, attractive headlights and its characteristic bonnet. It is now available, for the revamped version, with 16five spoke alloy wheels (only for Sportive 1.8 litre) which, together with a lower design on the door panels, emphasise the elegant sports nature of the cars silhouette.
As for the engines, the two petrol units for the Mazda MX-5 give it an immediate response to any pressure on the accelerator. The five speed manual gearbox is standard on the Active 1.6 litre, whilst on the Sportive 1.8 litre (and on some special versions) the six speed manual gearbox is standard. The basic engine is a 1.6 litre unit with four cylinders that develop 110bhp. On the other hand, the 1.8 litre petrol reaches 146bhp at 7 000rpm.
These cars are now on sale at a price of 21 245 for the 110bhp 1.6 Active version, and 27 085 for the 146bhp Sportive 1.8 version.
