The second generation of the 4 wheel traction technology, 4Motion, is now available on the new Golf. This second generation of the 4Motion traction system brings an important advance in aspects like lower maintenance, longer service intervals and lower noise levels. This four wheel drive technology is particularly effective on low grip surfaces, whether they are wet with ice or snow.
At first, new 4Motion is mounted on the TDI models. These models are distinguished by the 4Motion logo on the rear and an exhaust pipe in two parts. Volkswagen offers as an option an ideal complement for the 4Motion traction equipment that is specially conceived for roads in bad conditions: a harder suspension that is raised by 20mm and a crankcase protector which in addition to protecting the engine, is extended along the body to keep it safe from bumps and rocks.
Going into detail, the 4Motion system is based on a multi-plate clutch bathed in oil which according to the pressure exerted on them, and not noticed by the driver, controls the torque transferred to the rear wheels. Depending on the coefficients of friction between the plates it is even possible to transmit all the torque to the rear axle.
The Golf V Trendline 1.9 6 TDI Manual 105bhp vel. 4Motion is now on sale starting at 21 930. |
