The 206 1.6 l HDi FAP becomes the most powerful of the 206 diesel engines. This 16 valve unit reaches 80kW (110bhp) and a torque of 240Nm at 1 750rpm. According to Peugeot, this car benefits from the most modern of injection technologies working at a pressure of 1 600 bars, a system of six injections per cycle and a variable geometry turbo. This 206 needs just 10 seconds to reach 100kph with just the driver on board or to go from 80kph to 120km/h in top gear. Its top speed is 186kph.
It is especially economic with the fuel, just 4.8 litres per 100km, and complies with the European Euro4 regulations and benefits from a particle filter (FAP) that does not need cleaning until it has covered 120 000km. So, according to Peugeot, the 206 1.6 l HDi FAP, with its particle filter, can boast of being the first car in the world in the segment B diesel category equipped with a system conceived to produce the best environmentally respectful vehicle.
Regarding its road behaviour, the XSI version uses a "sport chassis" derived from the 206 GTI petrol, but rigorously adapted to this new balance and provided with 16" aluminium alloy wheels with 205/45R16W tyres. The synthesis of this behaviour is also result of a new variable power electro-hydraulic type assisted steering, similar to the one on the 307.
In summary, the 206 HDi 1.6 is equipped with the particle filter (FAP) forms part of the Peugeot strategy that aims to reduce polluting emissions without ruining the performance.
