On the Austrian A1 Ring circuit we witnessed a race which decieved us all. Not because of the retirement of Fernando Alonso due to engine failure. This is something which happens in races and it was the Asturian driver's turn yesterday. The deception is that after an unexpected and exciting start to the season, things have quickly gone back to their normal state. This state is the total control held by Michael Schumacher. It seemed that McLaren had caught up with him, we were sure that the powerful BMW engine could give the Ferraris a fright from time to time thanks to Montoya. We also knew, of course, that Alonso's "magic hands" would be able to turn the podium blue instead of the habitual Ferrari red. But no, Schumacher earned pole position. He went out, won and went home. Peace here and then glory and he's on his way towards his sixth world title. Schumacher is so good, he is so far above good and bad that he didn't even bat an eyelid when his car burst into flames druing refuelling. He didn't lift a finger. He waited for the mechanics to solve the problem and off he went again. The attitude of a champion and the rest is history. Back
