Those who placed Alonso amongst the favourites to win the World Title, have done him very few favours. The Asturian driver received such a dosage of praises before the season started that his expectations have had to drop drastically now. In a way, and despite being an extraordinary driver, Alonso has given in to all that surrounds him. He was already thinking about the world championship and at least five or six victories. For this reason he made mistakes on the qualifying laps in Malaysia and also failed in Bahrain due to, as was claimed, a badly adjusted brake distributor. During races, however, Alonso is sensational. He does not make mistakes and takes his Renault to the limit. This may be the problem. Ferrari, Williams and the surprising BAR are ahead of the Asturian's car which he tries to race always to 110% of its possibilities. When this happens, the mistakes start to appear. The problems experienced in the last few races will help the team and the driver's entourage to set more reasonable objectives and possibly this will allow him to show off his extraordinary talent without so much pressure. It will be, without doubt, to his benefit.
