At the moment the FIA is holding its World Congress in Barcelona, and has published the race calendar for 2007 and the main novelty is that Imola will not host the San Marino GP. The Italian track is one of the oldest in the championship and so Bernie Ecclestone obliged the owners to modify and revamp the circuit, but this has not been done.
The two parties have been negotiating right to the last moment but the decision could not be delayed any longer and the consequence is that the Autodromo Enzo y Dino Ferrari de Imola must wait at least one year before it is back in the World Championship. The circuit of the Nrburgring will not be the venue for the European GP (which disappears) but will host the German GP, the venue for this GP will alternate every other year with circuit of Hockenheim. The Belgian GP rejoins the calendar after an absence of one year.
The Spanish GP will be at Montmel again on 13th May. This will be the first race in Europe after races in the Pacific region and the GP in Bahrain, the Australian GP will open the season. And the final race, like this year, is at the circuit of Interlagos.
