THE BOUTIQUE THE WEATHER INTERACTIVE CAMPSA GUIDE
Mini GP at Jerez

Eight teams coincided at Jerez the weekend of 9th - 11th December - the final training session before the end of the year. Only Jordan and Minardi were missing from this crowded meeting at the Andalusian circuit.

In addition to Alonso, there were another two Spanish Formula 1 drivers at Jerez, Marc Gen and Pedro de la Rosa. The Williams driver drove 28 laps, two more than De la Rosa. The fourth McLaren driver thinks that things went well for the team: Now we have had a GP rehearsal and the MP4-19 has not had any problems, in spite of the gearbox, the suspension and the aerodynamics being different.

Felipe Massa made his debut with Sauber, after having tested with Ferrari until the beginning of December. The Brazilian performed well, since he set the second best time of the day behind Anthony Davidsons BAR Honda. Jacky Eeckelaert, chief engineer at the Swiss team, was satisfied: "Felipe has had a good comeback. It feels as if he had never been away from our team". The now ex Ferrari test driver raced in Formula 1 with Sauber in 2002, getting four points.

Christian Klien is still in Jerez with his adapted Jaguar. The Austrian drove 41 laps to get experience in his new life as a Formula 1 driver. The top level drivers present in the Andalusian city were Juan Pablo Montoya, Rubens Barrichello and Mark Webber, as well as Takuma Sato, the man who won the seat at BAR - formerly belonging to Jacques Villeneuve.
