Ever since the 2003 season finished at Suzuka, the Italian team had only had one training session. That was at Vallelunga in the middle of December. Since then, the Minardi PS03 had not been on the asphalt. The low budget can be seen in Paul Stoddarts teams activity. In Valencia both drivers only coincided on the track on one day. The other two days only had one of the two.

The times were not very competitive, although they were not either far behind Toyotas on the first day or Jaguar on the third. Paul Stoddart, wh well knows the limitations of his team, was satisfied: "We have worked a lot and we have data and information and now we have data and reports that are going to help to us to improve the car next season. I want to congratulate Baumgartner especially. He did not know the car and made a great effort to fulfill our objectives".

The Hungarian driver, after drriving only six laps on the first day due to mechanical problems, completed 104 laps the following day. "Taking into account the fact that I had not driven a Formula 1 car for five months, I am pleased. I think that I have done a good job and that the team is satisfied with how things went in Valencia". The next training for Minardi will take place at Misano starting on 9 th February. |
