The R24, the car that they hope to fulfill their ambitions with, has given reasons for hope in their pre-season training sessions. The only fear within the French team is that it may suffer from reliability problems, something that must be avoided if they are to do anything. "The objective is, logically, to finish the championship in a better positionthan last year and to achieve this it is vital to have a high level of reliability" said Patrick Faure, executive director at Renault. "Last year we were the fourth best team".

Fernando Alonso aspires, in the individual section, to confirm his excellent 2003 season. "If everything goes according to plan in the first few GPs, the objective will be to win some races. If it is not so, I will lower my pretensions" explained the Spanish driver. His sensations with the R24 are positive: "Whenever I forced the car a little it was faster than the predecessor. The power and the aerodynamics have improved, now we must work on the brakes and the suspension".
Jarno Trulli was the first to drive the car. "It was a special momnt, really exciting. The expectations for this year are really high" said the Italian. Flavio Briatore did not miss the appointment either, who thanked the companies that have joined the Renault project. "As a team, I am convinced that we have not yet reached our limit" he stated. |
