"I am very pleased to have signed for Jordan" the driver said after announcing the agreement. "It was strange testing for the team without having signed, since I felt like part of the team. It is going to be very exciting to try out the new EJ14 on the track. The last few weeks have been complicated for me, I was a little nervous because the signing did not come. Now I feel relieved".

Heidfeld is dying to race in Bahrein and Shanghai: "These two new races are good for Formula 1. We race for the world title, so we must include everybody. I have always liked to visit new circuits". Eddie Jordan, team boss, complimented his new driver: "Nick is very fast and has talent. We were looking for a strong driver able to accomplish our objectives in 2004 and we think that our signing is just right. We will fight with the teams in the middle of the classification".

Nick Heidfeld, of 26 years old, has developed his career as a Formula 1 driver at Sauber. He has been competing for three years. His only podium was in his first ever season, 2001, at the Brazilian GP. His performances the last season were very poor and the Swiss team decided to do without his services. His fifth position at Indianapolis put a good gloss on a year when he only got two eighth positions.
