On that occasion the race was suspended because of the accident involving Fernando Alonso and the remains of Mark Webber�s car. With the Spaniard in hospital, Kimi R�ikk�nen was on the first step of the podium and Fisichella on the second. A day later, nevertheless, the FIA changed their decision and gave the victory to the Jordan driver. "This is my first real victory" said a delighted �Fisco�, aware that on 6th April 2003 his triumph was down to lady luck.

 

His second victory in F1 also had a little luck attached to it, although on this occasion it was down to the first of the flying laps when the rain did not affect him. "That made things much easier, since my biggest rivals started further back. I believe that it is a sign for the rest of the year � this is my year". Once he had pole on the grid, he made sure that he was not surprised at the start of the GP and maintained a tight hold on the lead and was never in any danger.

 

�I was the owner of the race. I controlled it well because I had a very fast car. I only needed to attack at the end, when the team warned me that Barrichello was getting close, and '' almost without wanting it I set a 1:25" explained Fisichella. "I looked after the tyres and the engine well. Everything went perfectly because we have a very well balanced and effective car. The team worked hard and that was seen on the track ".
