| McLaren slightly improved on their performance in Malaysia two weeks before in Melbourne,
although the team is far behind Ferrari and of Williams. David Coulthard saved the day again
with an acceptable a sixth position, between the two Renaults. Kimi Raikkonen, on the other hand, abandoned again, although up to that moment his performance was good, since he was fighting to get on the podium. The Finn took out his anger on a track official, pushing him when he got out of his car. Ron Dennis�s team has a poor total of four points in the World Championship. |

| Sauber won their first point of the season |
| Felipe Massa finished the race in Sepang in eighth position and so got the first point for
him and his team in 2004. The Brazilian drove a consistent race and he took advantage of Ralf
Schumacher and Kimi Raikkonen abandoning to obtain a points winning position. His team mate Giancarlo Fisichella, finished eleventh, behind da Matta and Christian Klien. |

| Montoya set the best lap time |
| Juan Pablo Montoya stole the fastest lap from Michael Schumacher in the second Great Prize of the season. The Colombian set a 1.34:223, compared to the 1.34:819 by the Ferrari man. Fernando Alonso occupied tenth place in this classification. The team improved on their 2003 times significantly. Williams and BAR Honda, for example, set times that were three seconds slower. |

| Schumacher and Ferrari, named for the Laureus |
| Fernando Alonso is not the only contender for the Laureus prizes. | Tribute to Senna in Brazil |
| Singers like Caetano Veloso and Milton Nascimento and the ballet of Sao Paulo attracted 15 000 people to a concert tribute to Ayrton Senna that was held on Friday 19th March in Sao Paulo. The event took place at the Pacaemb� soccer stadium and was the official opening of the �Ayrton Senna do Brazil Year� as it is called in his country. There will be more tributes throughout the year. |
