LION TAMERS: This is how we work in preparation for a Super Cup trial.
The pilots of the Super Cup SEAT Len drive high performance vehicles with demanding tuning.

The Super Cup SEAT Len has already disputed three of the six forecasted trials in this seasons calendar. The image of the potent Len Super Cup has already been seen around the circuits of El Jarama, Albacete and of Estoril and after a summer break, the competition will return at the end of September on the Ricardo Tormo Circuit. Two of the most outstanding pilots of the Super Cup, Alfredo Mostajo and Luis Miguel Reyes explain to us what are the most highlighted characteristics of the car and of their tuning work.

The Car
For starters, we have a Super car which has designed with great style. Normally a single sponsor competition has very limited posibilities of tuning and adjusting the vehicle. In the Super Cup it is not like this. For a start the car is very strong and the 250 CV allow for very high performances and really outstanding times. We can work in a multitude of adjustments, and the front traction which is what allows us to control the car completely. Once we arrive at a circuit, and during the whole of the day previous to the test runs we thoroughly analyse the characteristics of the track and beforehand we choose the best combination of springs and alignments.

The Len has an extraordinary kick, the collection is really balanced and the chassis allows for passes over elevated curves. We therefore have full conscience that we have an authentic race car and a correct set up approach which does not change the behaviour of the car radically. If someone makes a mistake on entry, afterwards it is very difficult to correct mistakes.

The tyres
They are a key element. The Len Super Cup has front wheel traction and it is there where the 250 CV are concentrated. Besides the rule has foreseen that only four new front tyres will be used in test drives and two in races. Therefore we have to be extremely careful with their use. In test drives it is vital to choose the ideal moment in order to carry out a good lap, as if it were Formula 1. If we carry out a good grid time in only a few laps, this means that we have at our disposal a rubber reserve to be used in one of the two races. It does not mean to say that the car totally changes its behaviour with the wearing away of the tyres.

Driving
Everything passes by very quickly in one of these races. It is evident that an enormous equality exists in the Super Cup. There lies the key to this spectacle, but this in turn make life difficult for the pilots as they face up to each other in group exits and big differences between them are not possible.

When one arrives at the first braking point, one comes across at least fifteen pilots who want to pass through the same place. This is very complicated and a lot of care has to be taken in order not to waste tyres so early on in the race. Although the subject may seem to be repetitive, it is vital as when the wheels start to wear away, one should hit the gas very softly so that the cars nose does not slide towards the outside of the curves.

The rivals
The level of piloting in the Super Cup is very high. On the circuits the teams try to solve in the best possible way the combination of tyres and suspensions, a habitual problem in the boxes. Afterwards, above all during races, not in test drives, the strokes are constant, the rubbing on the curves, as well. It is driven to the limit and some accidents happen but always within totally reasonable margins for which reason it is a high level competition.

All of us who are piloting at the moment are more than satisfied. We have at our disposal a powerful car with multiple adjustment possibilities, the rule is exact, and the competition is very interesting. The first three races have been very balanced, we are sure that the three remaining races will be the same.
