The Nelson Piquet circuit is located in Jacarepagu�, just 20km from downtown Rio and three kilometres from the coast.
It was built between 1975/1977.
It hosted its first MotoGP race in 1977 (Brazilian National Championship).
It is 4,933 metres long. It also has one of the longest straight lines of
the World Championship calendar: 1,100 metres.
