These are the two big stars of the year. One of them, on the left, because he is an authentic phenomenon who will aim for new challenges next year. And on the right, he who might be his sucessor although he has quite a few years ahead of him. The Moto GP and 125cc World Champions, with both titles being completely deserved. Valentino Rossi and Dani Pedrosa posed for the official photo at the end of the Valencian GP in which Manuel Poggiali was proclaimed World Champion in 250cc.
The final balance for the season is good, as it should be. It has been an exciting, spectacular, emotional and also tragic year as Daijiro Kato left us, falling victim to a cruel accident. Pedrosa, Poggiali and Rossi are fair champions. Barber and Elas came very close and Gibernau has sealed a sensational runner-up spot which nobody, not even himself, would have imagined at the start of the season. What's more, the Moto GP category has grown stronger and the World Championship is a great spectacle at all levels.
We can and should be happy because the Spanish riders as a whole have raced well and the expectations and sensations point to that next year may be even better. We will see you again on the 18th of April.
