Misano, the only novelty in the calendar

The circuit of Misano is the only newcomer to the calendar in 2007, which will have a total of 18 races. The Italian track will host the San Marino GP on 2nd September. Spain will host three races again but Qatar will open the season, not Jerez, as was usual. The Comunidad Valenciana GP will be the final race of the season.

Just like in Formula 1 the Republic of San Marino will have a motorcycling GP next season. The race will be at the circuit of Misano, but like Imola the track is not in San Marino but in Rimini, a town on the edge of the Adriatic and 25km away from the country. The Italians have complained to Dorna many times as Spain hosts three races, whereas they only have one. This is why San Marino has been given a race, although it is really a second Italian GP.

The circuit of Losail in Qatar will open the season on 10th March. As is normal the race will be on a Saturday, like in Assen, Netherlands. Therefore the circuit of Jerez loses the privilege that it had had for years of being the first date in the calendar. The GP of the USA will be disputed at the end of July, and as always only for the MotoGP category.

Spain will see three tests again. The first of them will be the Spanish GP at the circuit of Jerez on 25th March. The Catalunyan GP at Montmel is on 10th June,  and the circuit of Cheste will see the last race in the championship, Comunidad Valenciana GP on 4th November.
