Thanks to the presence of the latest generation of 4 stroke 990cc machines on the grid, the popularity of this sport has continued to grow and the number of spectators during competition weekends has increased throughout the year and is now up to 1.7 million, 4% more than the previous season.

This increase means that an average of over 106 000 people were present at each of the GP�s. Significant rises occurred at the Cinzano Great Britain GP, at Donington Park, with an increase of 18% on the day of the race and a total of 107 000 fans were observed during the whole weekend and at the Cinzano Motorrad German GP, at the Sachsenring, which with 204 000 spectators was the highest number spectators in the whole season and so last season�s� record, and 10% more than the previous year.

The number of followers who went to the circuits on the day of the race rose throughout the season, the total increase is 144 000 fans, which represents an increase of 15% compared to 2002. The record for attendance at training sessions belongs to Jerez, with 71 600 fans in the stands which became 128 000 on the Sunday. The Comunidad Valenciana GP was very similar with 121 000 people present to see the final race of the season.
